About the Company

Our client is a medical technology start-up developing innovative medical devices that help clinicians make faster, better-informed decisions. The team includes engineers, scientists, clinicians and software specialists working towards one goal: improving patient outcomes.

The company already has a product and is now moving it through production. It’s a fast-paced, hands-on environment where your work has a real impact and you’re encouraged to build, test and solve problems yourself.

About the Role The company is hiring a Senior NPI Engineer to join its engineering team. In this role, you’ll design the jigs, rigs and test equipment used to manufacture the product. You’ll also work with suppliers to improve component quality and introduce recent product features into production.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys building things. You’ll split your time between mechanical and hardware design, and work closely with the engineering, quality and R&D; teams within an ISO 13485 and FDA-aligned quality system.

The role is based on site in Perth, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and build jigs, fixtures, test rigs and small machines for manufacturing, covering both mechanical and hardware design.
- Lead the NPI of new product features, from design changes through to controlled production.
- Work with component suppliers to improve yield, reduce rejection rates and keep specifications tight.
- Carry out fast-paced mechanical design tasks on product components and assemblies.

- Support the optimisation of manufacturing processes, including some wet chemistry processes.
- Contribute to verification and validation (V&V;) activities, including breaking requirements down into test plans and documentation.
- Maintain design and process documentation within an ISO 13485 quality system.
- Troubleshoot technical issues at the bench, on the production floor and with suppliers.
- Work closely with the wider engineering, quality and R&D; teams, and support other product teams when needed.

Requirements

- A degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or another highly regulated industry. This is essential.
- Hands-on experience designing jigs, fixtures, test rigs or automated equipment that combine mechanical and hardware or electronic elements. This is essential.
- NPI or design for manufacturing experience, including working with suppliers on component quality and yield.
- Start-up experience, ideally taking a product from early development through to launch.
- Strong CAD skills (e.g. SolidWorks).
- V&V; experience in a regulated environment (ISO 13485 and FDA) is highly regarded.
- Some knowledge of PCBs or electronics is a plus.
- Exposure to chemistry-based manufacturing processes is a plus.
- You bring high energy and a hands-on approach, and you thrive in a fast-paced start-up.
- Full Australian working rights.
