Are you a commercially driven Senior Planner looking for an opportunity to make a genuine impact within a growing global fashion business?
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established Australian fashion retailer with an international presence spanning more than 25 countries and five continents.
With the business continuing to expand, the Planning team is looking for an experienced Senior Planner to take ownership of category performance, influence commercial strategy and lead a talented team.
You'll enjoy a high level of autonomy, meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to make commercial decisions that directly influence sales, profitability and business performance.
? Your Opportunity to Make an Impact
Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will take ownership of your designated department/category, overseeing financial performance, strategic planning, range management and stock optimisation.
Working closely with Buying, Design, Production, Allocation and international stakeholders, you'll play a key role in translating commercial strategy into successful trading outcomes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
? Commercial Planning & Financial Performance
- Own category financial performance, driving sales, margin and profitability against agreed budgets and KPIs.
- Manage WSSI and open-to-buy, ensuring stock commitments and financial forecasts remain aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor sales, margin, markdowns, promotional activity and stock performance, identifying opportunities and managing commercial risks.
- Lead in-season trading decisions, responding to changing sales trends and market conditions.
- Develop realistic forecasts and proactively identify opportunities to maximise commercial returns.
? Strategic & Seasonal Planning
- Develop category budgets and forward planning frameworks in partnership with Buying and the Planning Manager.
- Translate financial targets into commercially balanced range plans.
- Review historical performance, emerging trends and customer demand to inform future purchasing decisions.
- Partner with Buying and Design on range architecture, price positioning, product mix and seasonal strategies.
- Drive post-season analysis and identify opportunities to improve future performance.
? Stock & Range Optimisation
- Oversee stock management from supplier commitment through to warehouse, store and online availability.
- Ensure the right product reaches the right store at the right time.
- Monitor stock flow, intake, weeks of cover, rate of sale and sell-through.
- Work closely with Allocation and Supply Chain to optimise inventory and store performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve stock efficiency and minimise markdown exposure.
? Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach and develop the Planning and Allocation team.
- Provide direction, mentoring and ongoing feedback to support individual and team performance.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and influence commercial decisions.
- Support succession planning and contribute to the ongoing development of the wider Planning function.
? What You'll Bring We're looking for someone who combines strong commercial judgement with the confidence to lead, influence and deliver results.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- At least 5 years' relevant experience in fashion retail merchandise planning.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen, with a proven track record of managing category performance.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong experience managing WSSI and open-to-buy.
- Demonstrated experience in forecasting, budgeting, stock management and in-season trading.
- A solid understanding of retail KPIs, including margin, sell-through, stock turn, weeks of cover and like-for-like performance.
- Experience developing and managing a team, or demonstrated leadership capability and readiness to step into a broader leadership position.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work autonomously, take ownership and make commercially sound decisions.
- Experience within a high-volume fashion retail environment.
Experience with international markets or large-scale retail operations will be highly regarded. We're particularly interested in candidates who have worked in fast-paced fashion businesses where volume, trading intensity and commercial accountability are central to the role.
? Why Join?
This is an opportunity to build your career within a business that continues to grow and invest in its people.
You'll enjoy
