About the role

7R Logistics is seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager to join our team at our Virginia, SA facility. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in overseeing and optimising our transport and logistics operations. As Transport Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operational activities of our transport fleet, ensuring efficiency, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction across all road transport services. This role is essential to maintaining our competitive edge in the road transport industry and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Key responsibilities

- Managing and supervising transport fleet operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching of vehicles

- Monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules and coordinating repairs to ensure fleet reliability and compliance with safety standards

- Overseeing driver management, including recruitment, training, performance management, and compliance with transport regulations

- Ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, including road transport legislation, safety standards, and environmental regulations

- Implementing and maintaining operational policies and procedures to optimise efficiency and reduce costs

- Liaising with customers to understand their transport requirements and ensuring service level agreements are met

- Analysing operational data and key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions

- Managing budgets, including fuel costs, maintenance expenses, and staffing costs





- Ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols and promoting a safe working culture

- Reporting on operational metrics and performance to senior management

What we're looking for

- 5+ years of experience in transport operations management or a similar role within the road transport or logistics sector

- Strong knowledge of road transport regulations, safety compliance, and industry best practices

- Proven track record of managing transport fleets and achieving operational efficiency targets

- Experience in driver management, recruitment, and training

- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with proficiency in data analysis and reporting

- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively

- Experience with transport management systems and logistics software is highly desirable

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when liaising with customers and stakeholders

- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fleet management systems

- A valid driver's licence and willingness to occasionally operate vehicles if required

- Relevant qualifications or certifications in transport management, logistics, or health and safety are advantageous
