About Underdog Evolution

Underdog Evolution is a community-driven combat sports studio in Tecoma. We teach grappling (BJJ and Freestyle Wrestling) and striking (Muay Thai and Boxing) to kids and adults, and we pride ourselves on a warm, inclusive and high-energy environment where every student is supported to reach their goals.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, reliable Receptionist to be the first friendly face members and visitors see during our busiest hours.

Who We Are Looking For

This role suits someone who:

- Loves working with people and makes everyone feel welcome, from nervous first-timers to long-time members

- Is happy to follow up with leads and help people take the next step, without being pushy

- Is looking for evening and Saturday morning work that fits around study or other commitments

- Previous experience in a customer facing role is preferred

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be the heart of the front desk during class times, with the customer always coming first:

- Member experience: Greet members, visitors and families, learn names, check people in, and keep the energy warm and welcoming.

- Enquiries and trials: Respond to enquiries in person, by phone, email and social media, book trial classes and look after trial students on the night.

- Lead follow-up: Follow up with leads and past trial students, guide them through to joining, and keep records tidy in Gymdesk.

- Member care: Track members who haven't been in for a while and check in.

- Retail: Process sales, keep the merch displays looking good and keep an eye on stock.

- Studio upkeep: Keep reception, mat areas and common spaces clean, tidy and presentable at the start and end of each shift.

- Weekly update: Give owners an email update on our members and studio.

Role Details & Roster

- Position type: Permanent Part time (22 hours per week)

- Classification: Fitness Industry Award 2020 [MA000094] - Level 2 ($26.44/hr weekdays,



$33.05/hr Saturdays) plus superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading

- Location: Underdog Evolution, 1571 Burwood Highway, Tecoma

- Schedule: Shifts start 30 minutes before the first class and finish 30 minutes after the last class ends.

- Monday: 4:30 PM - 9:00 PM

- Tuesday: 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM

- Wednesday: 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM

- Thursday: 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM

- Friday: 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM

- Saturday: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

This is a permanent role. Shifts are reviewed every 3-6 months to line up with the class timetable.

- Reliable and self-directed: You're confident running the front desk on your own during evening classes and take ownership of your shift.

- Organised with great attention to detail: You keep the studio looking its best and don't miss the details in emails, member records, follow-ups or reporting.

- Calm under pressure: You can handle a busy changeover between classes, walk-ins and phone calls.

- Tech-comfortable: Confident with a computer and phone, and happy to learn Gymdesk (full training provided).

Bonus points: Previous reception, retail or hospitality experience, and a current First Aid / CPR certificate (or willingness to get one).
