About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a growing team delivering complex energy infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional with a strong background in estimating across electrical infrastructure, power distribution, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, substations or related engineering and construction environments.

You will lead the preparation of accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for tenders and major project opportunities. Working closely with engineering, project management, procurement and delivery teams, you will play a key role in supporting business growth and ensuring projects are priced accurately, risks are identified and tender submissions are delivered to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions for energy infrastructure projects.
- Review tender documentation, technical specifications, engineering drawings, scopes of work and contractual requirements.
- Develop cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, plant, construction methodologies and project overheads.
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain, evaluate and negotiate competitive pricing.
- Identify commercial, technical, contractual and delivery risks, incorporating appropriate contingencies and allowances.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, project management and procurement teams to validate estimates and construction methodologies.
- Develop and maintain estimating databases, cost benchmarks, rates and historical project cost information.




- Prepare tender clarifications, assumptions, exclusions and supporting documentation.
- Support tender reviews, bid presentations, commercial negotiations and handover to project delivery teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems and standards.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior estimators and contribute to the development of estimating capability across the business.

Senior Estimator – Energy Infrastructure

You will lead the preparation of accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for tenders and major project opportunities. Working closely with engineering, project management, procurement and delivery teams, you will play a key role in supporting business growth and ensuring projects are priced accurately, risks are identified and tender submissions are delivered to a high standard.

Skills and Experience





To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within energy infrastructure, electrical infrastructure, power, utilities, renewables or heavy engineering and construction.
- Demonstrated experience preparing complex tenders and detailed cost estimates for major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of project costing, construction methodologies, labour productivity, materials, subcontractor pricing and project overheads.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify project risks, cost drivers and opportunities to improve margins.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, commercial and project delivery functions.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in estimating software, Candy or Expert experience essential.
- The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

- Degree, diploma or trade qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is desirable.
- Relevant industry experience will be highly regarded, including experience in electrical infrastructure, transmission and distribution, substations, high-voltage networks, renewable energy projects, battery energy storage or power generation.
