As Area Director, Australia, you will develop and deliver the office business plan, aligned with the regional objectives. This is your chance to set the culture and work with business support functions to keep the office running smoothly, with a positive environment for everyone.

Real ownership and influence

You will be ultimately responsible for project decision making and resource management, with a clear focus on profitability. You’ll advise on technical issues, programming and quality, and report into regional leadership. You will lead major bids and strategic opportunities, partner with leadership to shape strategy, and make high-impact decisions with real autonomy.

Build a high-performing team

Lead a team of line managers who develop the engineers around them. Recruit, mentor and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team across MEP, project delivery and support functions, aligned to Black & White’s global standards. Aligned to Black & White’s global standards, you will foster a culture of collaboration, quality and accountability, support succession planning, and create an setting where individuals and teams can thrive.

Deliver mission critical projects

Oversee the delivery of complex data centre projects, from programme and financial management to QA/QC and technical review. You’ll manage design scope changes, forecast fee performance and keep commercial and relationship risk under control.

Strengthen client relationships

Build positive relationships with clients and their professional teams. You’ll represent Black & White at technical meetings and industry events, with opportunities to speak on panels for yourself and your team. Your commercial judgment and technical credibility will help the business win profitable work and develop sustainable client partnerships.

- Degree or diploma in engineering (BSc/BEng or HND/HNC) in an appropriate discipline.
- MCIBSE or MIET membership, and Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Proven multi-disciplinary people leadership.
- Experience leading complex MEP design for a range of building projects, particularly data centres, using software such as AutoCAD, NES and Cymap.
- Experience managing projects internationally, with sound knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements, codes, standards and health and safety legislation.
- Experience in specification design for a range of building types.
