Job Description

Simplex Engineering Services Pty Ltd is a North Sydney based company specialising in ASP3 and public domain lighting design. We work with a variety of stakeholders across NSW including Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy, Essential Energy, local councils and developers. Simplex Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in North Sydney, NSW.

In this full-time role, you will be responsible for designing and managing the construction of electrical distribution networks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Your duties will include:

- Design electrical power distribution systems for residential, commercial and industrial developments.
- Conduct maximum demand assessments and electrical load calculations to determine power supply requirements.
- Prepare electrical engineering designs, drawings, single-line diagrams and technical specifications for distribution networks and substations.
- Select appropriate electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, cables and protection systems, based on project requirements.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, safety regulations and electricity distributor requirements.
- Liaise with electricity network providers, clients, contractors and consultants to coordinate electrical designs and obtain necessary approvals.
- Assess existing electrical infrastructure and recommend solutions for network upgrades,



recent connections and increased power supply requirements.
- Conduct site inspections to support the design development process.
- Review electrical drawings, calculations and technical documents to verify design accuracy, safety and compliance.
- Provide technical support during construction and installation, resolve design issues and recommend appropriate engineering solutions.
- Prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, technical documentation and project specifications.
- Coordinate electrical engineering projects, monitor project progress and ensure designs are delivered within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Design street lighting and assess lighting requirements in accordance with relevant standards and project specifications.
- Evaluate alternative electrical design solutions to improve system reliability, safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

- Electrical Engineering degree recognised by Engineers Australia
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in ASP3 design
- Competent with AutoCAD
