Amphitheatre Primary School (APS) is a small rural school located in the Pyrenees Ranges, 13 kilometres from Avoca and approximately 184 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. Established in 1875, the school has a rich history and is an integral part of the local community. APS is one of six schools within the Pyrenees Cluster, alongside Landsborough, Moonambel, Natte Yallock, Navarre and Trawalla. The cluster provides opportunities for collaboration, resource sharing, professional learning and curriculum planning, extending learning experiences for students across the participating schools. Our small enrolment supports a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where every student is known and valued. Strong relationships between students, staff, families and the wider community are central to school life.
Our Staff and Programs
Our dedicated team comprises a full-time Principal, two experienced part time teachers, a Business Manager and two Education Support staff members. Staff work collaboratively to deliver engaging learning programs that support the individual needs and development of every student. Students participate in specialist learning areas, including Japanese, physical education, music and art, providing opportunities to develop skills and interests across a range of curriculum areas.
As an active member of the Pyrenees Cluster, APS participates in collaborative learning opportunities, including STEAM days held three times per term. These experiences allow students to work with peers from neighbouring schools, develop social connections and participate in practical, collaborative learning activities.
The school values strong partnerships with families and encourages parent and community involvement in school activities and student learning.
