Recruitment Consultant - Software Engineering
Brighton | 3-4 days in office
Salary up to £50,000 DOE + *****% Comms
Build a Software Engineering division with
40 existing, actively buying technology clients already asking for the skillset
.
This is a rare opportunity to own your own market without starting from zero.
You'll join a highly successful executive search firm partnering with
VC and PE-backed software businesses
, from disruptive startups making their first critical hires through to international scaleups preparing for their next stage of growth.
The client relationships are already there.
Your job is to turn that existing demand into a successful Software Engineering practice.
The Opportunity
The business already has more than
40 actively buying clients
, including some of the most exciting investor-backed software companies in the market.
Many regularly ask for Software Engineering talent, but the business currently doesn't have a dedicated consultant to fully capitalise on that demand.
That means your early months should involve far more
account development than cold business development
.
You'll be able to:
Introduce Software Engineering hiring into existing client relationships
Pick up live requirements from businesses already buying from the firm
Develop relationships with CTOs, VPs of Engineering and technical leaders
Build a specialist candidate network
Expand existing accounts across new technical functions
Gradually develop your own new client relationships
Build and ultimately own the Software Engineering division
You're effectively being given the foundations of a desk, with the autonomy to turn it into something substantial.
The Market
The client base is focused on
venture capital and private equity-backed technology companies
.
These businesses are often hiring because they've just raised funding, entered a new market, acquired another company or reached the point where their product and engineering teams need to scale quickly.
You could be recruiting Software Engineers into:
AI-native startups
Enterprise SaaS businesses
Developer tools
Data platforms
Cybersecurity software
Cloud technology
Fin Tech
Infrastructure software
Other high-growth B2B technology companies
These are environments where engineering talent can directly influence whether a product scales successfully.
The wider firm works across senior Product, GTM and operational hiring, so you'll also gain exposure to how investor-backed technology companies build their teams from
0 to 1, through hypergrowth and towards exit or IPO
.
A High-Value Search Environment
This isn't high-volume technology recruitment.
The business specialises in high-value search, with an
average deal size of around £37,000
and a client base that includes both VC and PE-backed businesses.
That creates significant earning potential for someone who can develop the Software Engineering practice successfully.
The commission structure is outstanding,
with high performers able to move rapidly through the bandings as they bill.
Who They're Looking For
This would particularly suit someone with experience recruiting across:
Software Engineering
Software Development
Product Engineering
Cloud / Dev Ops
Data Engineering
AI / Machine Learning
Infrastructure
Other specialist technology markets
You'll need to be:
Commercial and comfortable developing client relationships
Solid at candidate generation and headhunting
Confident speaking with senior technology stakeholders
Ambitious enough to want ownership of a market
Interested in the startup and scaleup ecosystem
Collaborative rather than overly individualistic
Previous business development experience is valuable, but you won't be expected to spend your first few months hammering cold calls simply to create a market.
There is already business to work with.
