An exciting opportunity for an experienced Mainframe Db2 System DBA / Systems Programmer

The organisation is investing in modernising its Db2 platform and tooling landscape, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mainframe Db2 specialist to play a key role in its ongoing new role As a Mainframe Db2 System DBA / Systems Programmer, you will be responsible for the installation, upgrade, migration, configuration, and ongoing administration of Db2 for z/OS environments.
You will lead the migration from CA Db2 tools to IBM Db2 tooling, perform performance tuning, manage storage and system configurations, support application deployments, and provide 24x7 production support.
The role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, incident management experience, and collaboration with operations and application support teams to ensure maximum system availability and performance. What you'll need to succeed
Extensive experience with Db2 for z/OS v12 and v13 administration and system programming
Strong knowledge of IBM z/OS, SMP/E, and SMS
Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, migrating, and configuring Db2 environments
Proven experience migrating CA Db2 tools to IBM Db2 tools
Experience converting CA Log Analyzer report jobs to IBM Db2 Log Analysis Tool jobs
Strong expertise with:
Db2 Administration Tool
Db2 Log Analysis Tool
OMEGAMON for Db2 Performance Expert
Db2 Query Monitor
Db2 High Performance Unload
Db2 Sort / Syncsort




DB2 Connect
Experience supporting large-scale 24x7 production environments
Strong performance tuning, capacity planning, and resource optimisation skills
Experience with database patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities
Knowledge of database memory, storage, and I/O configuration
Strong incident management and root cause analysis capabilities
Experience working within SLA-driven environments
Understanding of ITIL processes, including Change, Configuration, Incident, Problem, and Service Readiness Management
ITIL V3 certification (highly desirable)
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and teamwork skills
