Here’s an opportunity to work at the heart of meaningful social impact across Queensland and Papua New Guinea in a hands-on partnerships role supporting exceptional community organisations, programs and services.

This is a broad, influential role where you’ll have ownership of the entire partnership lifecycle — working close to the decisions and partnerships that create real change.

Heart Talent is delighted to partner with Hand Heart Pocket to find the newest member of their values-led team.

What's on offer

- permanent full time role

- $150k + super

- flexible working hours to work around life and commitments

- hybrid working between the office, field and home

- see the impact of your work in communities across Queensland and Papua New Guinea

- diverse and rewarding work with exceptional partners and programs

- join a small, collaborative team with opportunities to learn and grow

- be part of a progressive organisation at the start of an exciting new chapter

About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of significant philanthropic partnerships, work closely with organisations doing important work and help shape philanthropic investment that create meaningful, lasting change.

Reporting to the General Manager Social Impact and Engagement, you'll lead a portfolio of philanthropic partnerships supporting young people aged 8-25, while contributing to broader systems-change initiatives.

This is a relationship-led, evidence-based role that brings together strategic thinking, relationship management, project delivery and evaluation.

You'll work closely with partner organisations throughout the full partnership lifecycle — building genuine trust, understanding their programs, navigating challenges and supporting their success.

You'll be both an objective assessor of opportunities and an advocate for your partners. This means asking insightful questions, challenging assumptions, examining evidence, understanding risks and exercising sound judgement to ensure philanthropic investments achieve meaningful outcomes.

Working closely with senior leaders internally and externally,

you'll contribute to decisions about where funding can make the greatest difference, developing evidence-based recommendations for Board consideration.

You'll also play an important role in Hand Heart Pocket's evolving approach to outcomes measurement — understanding not just what funding supports, but what changes as a result.

Key responsibilities include:

- identify, assess and co-design recent philanthropic partnerships

- build and manage trusted partnerships, monitoring performance, navigating challenges and supporting organisations to achieve outcomes

- manage the full partnership lifecycle including due diligence, agreements, payments, reporting, acquittals, reviews, renewals and risk management

- coordinate philanthropic opportunity assessment, preparing and presenting evidence-based recommendations to support funding decisions

- contribute to outcomes measurement frameworks, systems and reporting, interpreting quantitative and qualitative evidence to demonstrate meaningful social outcomes

- manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines, maintaining accurate records, documentation and data

- collaborate with diverse stakeholders, sharing insights and learnings.

About you

We’re looking for someone with demonstrated experience establishing, managing and overseeing funded partnerships, commissioning arrangements and/or community investment programs.

Your background may be in a philanthropic foundation, grant-making organisation, corporate community engagement,

Primary Health Network, Queensland Government or another commissioning or funding body.

You build genuine relationships, advocating for partners and helping them succeed. At the same time, you bring the critical thinking and commercial judgement to assess proposals objectively, challenge assumptions, examine evidence and identify risks.

We’d love you to bring:

- excellent project and relationship management skills

- ability to engage diverse stakeholders, establish trust and navigate complex situations

- clear, compelling written and verbal communication skills

- operational discipline to manage multiple partnerships, projects, priorities and deadlines

- ability to synthesise complex information and influence through evidence and sound reasoning

- knowledge of social impact, evaluation and outcomes measurement

- experience interpreting data, reporting on results and contributing to organisational learning

- strong systems, technology and data management capability

- ability to manage detailed administration, documentation and reporting independently

- demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and communities.

You're collaborative, generous with your knowledge and willing to support colleagues, bringing a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.

You're personable, compassionate and empathetic, with a genuine interest in people, organisations and the communities they support. Naturally curious, you ask thoughtful questions, explore different perspectives and enjoy learning.

You're credible with senior stakeholders, comfortable challenging assumptions and offering alternative views and know how to navigate conversations with professionalism and respect.

You're organised, resourceful and accountable, equally comfortable contributing to strategic decisions and taking responsibility for practical, detailed delivery.
