AJS Electrical Contracting is looking for a motivated electrician to join our team in a developing supervisory and project management role.

You don't need to have been a project manager before. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, practical experience, leadership potential and a genuine interest in developing their career.

About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to transition from hands-on electrical work into the management and delivery of commercial and industrial electrical projects.

Working alongside our experienced management team, you'll gradually take on responsibility for:

- Coordinating electricians, apprentices and subcontractors

- Planning and organising daily and weekly site activities

- Managing materials, equipment and labour requirements

- Liaising with clients, builders and other contractors

- Monitoring project progress, quality and safety

- Assisting with project budgets, variations and scheduling

- Developing the skills required to manage electrical projects independently

The role will initially involve a combination of practical site supervision and project coordination, with increasing management responsibility as your skills and confidence develop.

We recognise that good project managers aren't made overnight.

For the right candidate, AJS is prepared to support formal tertiary study in project management through a recognised online, part-time course, alongside practical mentoring and on-the-job experience.

This position offers a clear progression pathway from Assistant Project Manager to Project Manager,



with increasing responsibility, structured development opportunities and support along the way.

Our aim is to develop someone who can grow into a confident, capable electrical project manager and become an important part of our business over the longer term.

What we're looking for

- A qualified electrician with relevant commercial or industrial experience

- Solid technical knowledge and a commitment to quality workmanship

- Good communication and interpersonal skills

- The ability to organise work, solve problems and take initiative

- A positive approach to teamwork and leadership

- Sound computer skills and a willingness to learn new systems

- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in project management

Previous supervisory experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.
