About the Role

MKH Construction & Management is seeking a motivated and reliable Junior Leading Hand to assist with the day-to-day coordination and delivery of residential and commercial construction projects.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with construction experience who is ready to take the next step into site leadership.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager/ Director to coordinate trades, oversee daily site activities, maintain quality standards and ensure projects progress efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

Site Coordination & Supervision

- Assist with the daily coordination of trades, subcontractors and labourers.

- Organise and prioritise daily site activities.

- Monitor work progress against project schedules.

- Ensure trades have the required materials, equipment and site access.

- Identify and report delays, defects or site issues to the Project Manager.

- Assist with maintaining a clean, safe and organised site.

Construction & Quality Control

- Assist with hands-on construction work where required.

- Read and interpret architectural plans, specifications and construction details.

- Monitor workmanship to ensure it meets company quality standards.

- Identify defects and coordinate rectification under the direction of the Project Manager.

- Assist with site measurements, material orders and deliveries.





- Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved plans and instructions.

Communication & Reporting

- Provide regular site updates to the Project Manager.

- Communicate daily work requirements to subcontractors and labourers.

- Take progress photos and maintain basic site records.

- Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers and trades.

Work Health & Safety

- Promote safe work practices across the site.

- Assist with site inductions, toolbox talks and safety inspections as directed.

- Ensure appropriate PPE is worn and site safety procedures are followed.

- Identify and promptly report hazards, incidents and unsafe work practices.

Skills & Experience

Essential

- Previous experience in residential or commercial construction.

- Good understanding of construction methods and sequencing.

- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.

- Strong organisational and communication skills.

- Ability to coordinate multiple trades and daily activities.

- Reliable, punctual and proactive attitude.

- Current White Card.

- Valid driver’s licence.

Highly Regarded

- Trade qualification, preferably carpentry.

- Previous experience supervising labourers or coordinating subcontractors.





- Experience in renovations, extensions, current builds or commercial fit-outs.

- Basic knowledge of construction programming and site documentation.

- Confidence using mobile apps for reporting, photos and project updates.
