The Opportunity Monash University is seeking a Manager - Contractor Safety to provide strategic leadership across its property and infrastructure portfolio.
Reporting to the Director with broad autonomy, you will lead a team of four to manage contractor safety, capital works and infrastructure operations across research, teaching and residential assets.
In this role, you will champion the contractor safety management framework across the entire contractor lifecycle (in line with Monash University's framework), embed Safety in Design principles and drive customer-focused HSW solutions.
You will provide strategic contractor safety governance and assurance, maintaining overarching HSW oversight of the organisation's framework while ensuring contractors retain operational responsibility for their own systems of work.
Your focus will include leading critical risk and assurance activities, monitoring contractor performance and leveraging data to identify trends, priorities and continuous improvement opportunities.
Working collaboratively across procurement, major projects, facilities/operations and contract management, you will influence key teams, manage unit budgets, direct strategic policies and engage with senior academic and external partners to achieve high-impact safety outcomes.
We are looking for a collaborative leader with postgraduate qualifications (or equivalent experience) and extensive HSW management expertise,



including a proven track record of implementing or improving contractor safety frameworks in large, complex and contractor-intensive environments.
Strong project management, strategic agility and high-level stakeholder negotiation skills are essential.
