About us
Surf Beach Motel is a family-owned group that began in Coffs Harbour in 2005 and now runs motels in Port Macquarie, Newcastle and Tweed Heads. Our Port Macquarie motel has renovated rooms, 700 m from Oxley Beach. We’re a clean, simple, good-value motel. Guests check themselves in, so a spotless, well-presented room is the first thing they judge us on.
Purpose of the role
To clean and present guest rooms, laundry and common areas to a consistently high standard, so every guest walks into a room that looks exactly like the photos.
Key responsibilities
Guest rooms
- Clean rooms to the daily schedule: check-outs, stayovers
- Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchenettes and floors, including vacuuming and mopping
- Make beds to our standard with fresh linen
- Dust and clean furniture, mirrors, glass and fittings
- Restock guest amenities, tea, coffee and supplies
- Check every room against our room-ready checklist before marking it ready
Daily workflow
- Start each day from the housekeeping list, and check the key return box at reception to confirm which guests have checked out
- Note any special requests on the list (for example early check-in or a ground floor room) and prioritise those rooms
- Tell the On-site Manager as soon as a room is ready, especially for early arrivals
Laundry
- Wash, dry, fold and store linen and towels daily
- Keep the laundry tidy and report low stock or damaged linen
Common areas and reception
- Keep reception, paths, stairs, the car park and outside areas clean and tidy
- Empty bins and dispose of waste and recycling correctly
Maintenance and quality
- Report any maintenance issues, damage or missing items straight away (with a photo where possible)
- Hand in lost property to the On-site Manager
- Report any signs of smoking, pets or damage that may affect a bond
Guests
- Greet guests politely and help where possible, or direct them to the On-site Manager
- Respect guest privacy and property at all times
Key skills and qualities

- Previous housekeeping experience in a motel, hotel or similar
- Great attention to detail and pride in your work
- Honest, reliable and trustworthy
- Organised, productive and good with your time

- Available for a 7-day rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays
Desirable

Work health and safety
- Follow safe work procedures, including safe lifting and manual handling

Standards we measure
- Rooms ready by check-in time (2pm)
- Every room passes the room-ready checklist
- Guest feedback and reviews mentioning cleanliness
- Maintenance issues reported the same day
- Linen and amenity stock kept at the right levels
What we offer
- Stable full-time hours in a small, friendly, family-owned team
- Award wage plus penalty rates for weekends and public holidays
- Training in our room standards and systems
- Uniform provided
