Venn Constructions is looking for an experienced Carpenter / Joiner / Construction All-Rounder for a varied, hands-on role supporting our small works, project sites and Capalaba workshop.

We’re after someone with years of building experience, broad practical skills and good common sense who can work independently and help keep our sites, small works and workshop moving.

The role

Typical work will include:

- Site setup and establishment

- Carpentry and joinery

- Small repairs and alterations

- Doors, hardware, shelving and cabinetry

- Minor fit-out and finishing works

- Defects and rectification

- Site measures and smaller works

- Material, hardware and equipment pick-ups

- Deliveries between suppliers, workshop and sites

- Site pack-down and moving tools and equipment

- Supporting our Site Supervisors with miscellaneous works

- Helping guide our first-year Apprentice when appropriate

- Workshop-based carpentry and joinery

- General construction support as required

Workshop, travel & vehicle

Our well-equipped carpentry and joinery workshop is based in Capalaba, while most of our construction work is spread across Brisbane.

Ideally, we’d like someone who lives reasonably close to Capalaba. Materials, tools and equipment regularly need to leave the workshop for our sites and come back again, so having someone based nearby would make a genuine difference to the efficiency of the role.

Some days you'll be mainly on the tools. Other days might involve collecting something from the workshop, completing small works on site, picking up materials from a supplier and bringing equipment back to Capalaba.

If you have joinery experience, even better. We outsource most of our production joinery and are happy to continue doing so,



but there’s plenty of opportunity to use the workshop for smaller joinery, modifications and one-off items.

About our team

We’re a small, hands-on construction team consisting of two Site Supervisors, Administrative Manager, Contracts Administrator, a Director / Construction Manager, a first-year Apprentice and a loyal group of repeat subcontractors.

We’re looking for another experienced person who can work alongside that team, take ownership of the smaller jobs and help deal with the hundreds of practical things that keep construction projects moving

Who we're looking for

We’re more interested in finding the right experienced person with positive common sense and a solid work ethic than someone specifically looking to move into project management or run large projects.

You’ll need to be comfortable:

- Working independently

- Dealing with suppliers and trade stores

- Working around active construction sites

- Solving practical problems

- Switching between hands-on trade work and general construction support

- Must Have Qualifications - Drivers Licence, Construction White/ Blue Card, Experience

- Relevant trade qualifications and any additional construction licences, tickets or certifications would be considered an advantage.

This role could really suit someone who has got a lot of experience in the building industry, still enjoys being involved and working with their hands, but isn’t necessarily looking for the pressure of running major projects anymore.

Company ute and fuel card available, and employment conditions can be flexible for the right person.
