Quality Control Laboratory Technician - Food Microbiology

About the role
MAYDAY Technical is recruiting a Quality Control Laboratory Technician for an established food manufacturer in Sydney's south-west.

You'll work in an onsite QC laboratory, preparing samples, running routine tests and recording results that support production quality. This role would suit a recent graduate looking to build a career in food microbiology or a lab technician who enjoys hands-on bench work in a manufacturing environment.

What you'll do

- Prepare samples, reagents and equipment for routine laboratory testing.
- Perform quality control tests using approved methods and standard operating procedures.
- Record results accurately and maintain clear, traceable laboratory records.
- Complete routine equipment checks, help troubleshoot basic issues and elevate unusual results or deviations to the QC team.
- Follow laboratory safety,



hygiene and contamination control procedures, including secure handling and disposal of lab materials.

What you'll bring

- A qualification in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related science discipline.
- Practical laboratory experience through employment, a placement or university lab work.
- Confidence following written methods, preparing samples and documenting results accurately.
- Good attention to detail and the confidence to raise a concern when a result looks unusual.
- Experience in food, dairy, beverage or another regulated laboratory is well regarded. Exposure to aseptic technique, media preparation, serial dilutions or plating would be an advantage.
