Special Counsel | Workers Compensation | 10+ PAE | Sydney CBD

Our client, a leading Australian law firm with a national insurance practice, is looking for a Special Counsel to lead complex defendant workers compensation matters from its Sydney office. You will work alongside a partner recognised as pre-eminent in workers compensation, advising insurers, self-insurers, government agencies and scheme agents on their most sensitive claims.

- $200,000 - $240,000 + super, depending on experience

About the role

You will run a senior portfolio of sophisticated workers compensation claims and be a trusted adviser to the firm's insurance and employer clients.

- Manage complex claims including fatalities,



psychological injury and media-sensitive disputes
- Advise insurers and employers on risk, injury management and return-to-work strategy
- Lead dispute resolution and litigation strategy, including matters before the Personal Injury Commission
- Supervise, mentor and develop lawyers and paralegals
- Build client relationships and support business development

What you'll bring

- 10+ years PAE in workers compensation or insurance litigation
- Unrestricted NSW practising certificate
- Deep knowledge of the NSW workers compensation scheme, including work injury damages
- Proven experience with complex liability, fatality and psychological injury claims
- Solid leadership, drafting and advocacy skills, with sound commercial judgement
