Multi-Skilled Machine Operator – Final Trim & Civil Works

RFD Asphalt is looking for an experienced, multi-skilled Machine Operator to join our asphalt and civil construction team on the Sunshine Coast. We do a broad range of asphalt and civil work, from asphalt paving and pavement preparation through to drainage, road base construction, batter shaping and detailed earthworks. You'll be working alongside a good crew in a fast-paced environment, often on a different site each day, working with different machinery and tackling different challenges.

Key responsibilities

- Skid steer and posi-track operation, particularly precision final trim
- Excavator operation, including drainage, detailed earthworks and general civil works
- Operating attachments including bucket brooms, spreader bars and pavement profilers
- Road base preparation, spreading, levelling and batter shaping
- Assisting with asphalt paving and other site works when needed
- Daily machinery checks, basic maintenance and looking after the gear
- Truck driving and machinery transport where appropriately licensed

What are we looking for:

- Genuinely capable operator with solid final trim and excavator experience




- Can work accurately to levels and get a quality finish
- Has a reasonable mechanical understanding and can handle basic machinery maintenance
- Thinks on their feet and looks for solutions rather than problems
- Takes pride in their work and looks after the equipment
- Works well with others and enjoys a busy, hands-on environment
- Has a valuable attitude, shows initiative and isn't afraid to jump out of the machine and lend a hand
- Comfortable with H-pattern joystick controls or confident you can adapt quickly
- An unconditional HR truck licence would be a big advantage, and HC or MC would be even better
- Experience across asphalt works, drainage and other civil machinery is highly regarded
