The Client

Our client is an established transport and logistics operation specialising in the movement of general, oversized and specialised freight. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency and innovation, they operate a busy distribution facility supported by up-to-date technology, established processes and a close-knit team environment.

About the Role

As a Strapper, you will play a key role in ensuring freight is prepared, secured and handled safely and efficiently across a busy transport operation.

Working alongside a dedicated forklift operator, you will assist with preparing loads for B-doubles, semi-trailers, rigids and containers.

The operation manages approximately 15 B-doubles and 45 local PUD (Pick Up and Delivery) runs daily.

This is a hands-on role involving a diverse range of freight, including 3PL freight, oversized and irregularly shaped items, bulk freight and lengths of up to 6 metres.

The operation uses advanced AI-assisted technology to photograph and assess every load, helping ensure safe loading practices and axle weight requirements are maintained.

You’ll always work as part of a two-person team, paired with a dedicated forklift operator to ensure loads are prepared and secured correctly before dispatch.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

- Removing and securing load restraint straps from vehicles.




- Assisting forklift operators with loading and unloading B-doubles, semi-trailers, rigids and containers.
- Strapping and securing palletised freight, including both standard and oversized loads.
- Handling a variety of freight, including long lengths, bulky items and awkwardly shaped stock up to 6 metres.
- Unpacking containers and handling incoming freight.
- RF scanning palletised goods.
- Using pallet jacks to move freight throughout the warehouse.
- Assisting with general warehouse and depot operations.
- Operating yard sweeping equipment.
- Completing waste and rubbish removal.
- General warehouse cleaning and housekeeping duties.
- Following safe work procedures and company policies at all times.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous experience working as a load strapper within a transport or distribution centre.
- Experience with pallet jacks.
- RF scanning experience.
- An understanding of load restraint and safe freight handling practices.
- Experience handling general, oversized, bulky and awkwardly shaped freight.
- A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A strong work ethic and commitment to reliability and punctuality.
- Valuable physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual handling duties.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Basic administration and record-keeping skills.
- Flexibility to work additional hours or adjust workdays when required.
