About our client
Our client is a privately owned Australian specialist in advanced manufacturing machinery and industrial solutions, based in Totness in the Adelaide Hills, near Mount Barker. They advise on, supply, install and support specialised equipment used in metal processing, tube and pipe, structural steel, fabrication, robotic welding and related manufacturing. They work with leading international manufacturers and support customers across Australia with machinery, consumables, spares and technical service.
It is a small, experienced team with systems and customer relationships that have served the business well for many years.
The role
As Junior Account Manager, you will look after established customers across fabrication, steel processing, manufacturing, defence and infrastructure, with guidance from experienced colleagues. You will:
● Build long-term relationships with existing customers, locally and interstate
● Follow up customer enquiries, quotes, orders, consumables, spares and service needs
● Learn the machines each customer runs, and the parts and consumables that go with them
● Prepare quotes and write clear, professional customer emails in your own words
● Keep customer and equipment records accurate in the CRM and Excel-based registers
● Work with overseas manufacturers and the internal technical team to answer customer questions
● Attend customer visits and demonstrations, and stay involved through installation and after-sales support
What you can expect
● A structured six-to-eight-month learning period on a genuinely specialised range, with mentoring from experienced people
● A small team where your work is noticed, and where you build up to managing your own portfolio of accounts
● Exposure to international equipment manufacturers and customers right across Australia
● Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with local and interstate travel
● $70,000 to $85,000 plus super, depending on qualifications and experience
About you
This is a junior role, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. You don’t need to know this machinery already. You do need the right foundations and the right attitude:
● A recent degree, diploma, TAFE or trade qualification, or early experience in customer service, internal sales, a trade counter or office support
● Confidence and resilience: you can hold your own in a small, direct team
● You welcome feedback and act on it
● You can organise your own work without needing close supervision
● You are comfortable in Excel (sorting, filtering, simple formulas and lookups)
● You write clear, accurate emails yourself
● You are consistent, organised and follow through on every customer request
● You want to stay and grow with a business for the long term
Study or experience in engineering, manufacturing or a trade, or with machinery, welding, steel or fabrication, will help. We would also love to hear from apprentices finishing their trade and others ready to start a customer-facing career.
