About the Role

Are you passionate about the outdoors and making a positive impact on young lives? Operation Flinders Foundation is seeking two Adventure-Based Youth Mentors to facilitate outdoor activities as part of our one-on-one adventure mentoring program with the Department for Child Protection. Imagine hiking, kayaking and mountain biking while building meaningful connections with young people and helping them develop confidence, resilience and essential life skills.

This is your opportunity to combine your love of adventure with a rewarding role, making a genuine difference in the lives of young people experiencing challenging circumstances.

About Us

Operation Flinders Foundation is a leading South Australian charity dedicated to empowering young people through outdoor adventure. Best known for our flagship program in the Flinders Ranges, we also deliver a range of Adelaide-based programs designed to build resilience, confidence, teamwork and life skills in young people.

About You

We're looking for community-minded individuals who are passionate about the outdoors and making a difference in the lives of young people.

You'll bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, a genuine ability to connect with young people, and the confidence to support them through new experiences and challenges.

Experience working with young people with challenging backgrounds or lived experience of adversity is highly desirable. Applicants must hold, or be working towards, a qualification in outdoor recreation, social work, counselling, psychology,

youth work or a related discipline.

Above all, we're looking for mentors who are patient, adaptable, reliable and committed to creating positive experiences and meaningful outcomes for young people.

As a client-centred organisation, we strive to match young people with mentors who best meet their individual needs. To respond to the current needs of young people accessing our program, we particularly encourage applications from male candidates.

Positive to know

Regular travel to regional areas of South Australia with program participants is required.

Successful applicants may be required to work flexible hours between 6 am and 8 pm, depending on program needs and participant activities.

Successful applicants will be required to provide:

- Current Responding to Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RHAN-EC) training
- A valid Working with Children Check
- A current National Police Check

- First Aid certificate

Appointment is subject to the successful completion of a psychological assessment as part of the recruitment process.
