A proper country pub, and the person who helps run it.

The Daylesford Hotel sits on Burke Square, in the middle of town. Public bar, bistro, balcony, beer garden, a small bar called Bamford, a drive-thru bottle shop and rooms upstairs. This year we were named a pub finalist in The Age Positive Food Guide. Our Friday raffle has raised more than $100,000 for local clubs and causes.

We're looking for an Assistant Venue Manager to work alongside our Venue Manager. Not a second-in-charge who waits to be told. Someone who runs the pub on their own days and makes the busy ones easier.

Your week*

- Friday and Saturday: on the floor with the Venue Manager through our busiest trade
- Sunday: venue lead, sharing part of the day with the Venue Manager
- Monday and Tuesday: you run the pub
- Wednesday and Thursday: off

What you'll do

- Lead service across the bar, bistro, balcony and beer garden
- Help run functions and special event nights.
- Coach supervisors and floor staff, deliver inductions and help run training sessions
- Fill roster gaps, send people home when it's quiet, keep an eye on labour
- Work closely with the kitchen, and look after accommodation guests on your shifts
- Keep the place looking right: lights, music, tables, the fire in winter

What you'll bring





- Two or more years as a supervisor or assistant manager in a busy pub, bar or bistro
- Experience running functions
- Calm judgement, including with the odd difficult guest
- Confidence with rosters, tills and booking systems (we use Lightspeed and SevenRooms)
- Victorian RSA. Food Safety Supervisor, First Aid or licensee experience are a bonus
