Tower Crane & Hoist Boilermaker / Welder / Trade Fitter

VTS Cranes & Hoists is one of Queensland’s leading tower crane and hoist specialists, supplying equipment to major construction projects across the state. We’re looking for an experienced, qualified Boilermaker to join our yard team and keep our fleet of tower cranes and man & material hoists in top condition.

About the role

You’ll work in our Wacol yard and on site, servicing, repairing, testing and fabricating components for our crane and hoist equipment. You’ll be part of a small team of boilermakers, backed by a larger rigging and yard crew.

Key duties

- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on tower cranes and man & material hoists including associated equipment (e.g. grillages, bridges, tie components, hoist and crane bases, etc).
- Carry out pre-erection testing and repairs on equipment before it goes to site
- Inspect and examine components using specialist tools and equipment
- Fabricate, cut, bend and weld steel components using power tools and workshop machinery
- Read and work from manufacturer manuals and engineering drawings
- Complete detailed service reports and manufacturer documentation




- Work on site and in the field as required
- Represent VTS professionally with customers and on site

About you

- Trade-qualified Boilermaker (trade certificate essential)
- Experience with tower cranes or similar large steel structures and equipment. Tower crane experience is highly regarded.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a practical problem solver
- Clear communicator who works well with supervisors, customers and service technicians
- C class driver’s licence and own transport (essential)
- Construction White Card (essential)
- Working at Heights ticket (preferred)
- LR/MR licence (desirable, not essential)
