At Goodwin, good food and friendly service are an significant part of our residents’ day. We’re looking for enthusiastic Catering Assistants to support our kitchen and dining teams in delivering quality meals in a caring, respectful environment.

About the role

Working within a residential aged care facility, you will:

- Assist the chef with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling and trimming ingredients.

- Prepare dining areas and assist with meal service, providing friendly and attentive service to residents.

- Clean and maintain kitchen and dining areas,



equipment and utensils in line with cleaning schedules and HACCP food safety requirements.

- Follow safe food handling, infection control and chemical handling procedures.

- Prioritise tasks to ensure duties are completed before the end of each shift.

- Report incidents and hazards promptly and contribute to a safe, supportive workplace.

You will work at a designated facility and may be required to work at another Goodwin facility as organisational and resident needs change.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You bring a practical approach, attention to detail and a commitment to making a positive difference for residents. You will have:

- Experience as a kitchen hand or catering assistant, including food preparation and dining room duties.

- Relevant hospitality qualifications, a basic food handling certificate and Responsible Service of Alcohol certification.

- An understanding of HACCP, hygiene standards and the safe use of cleaning chemicals.

- The ability to safely carry out the physical requirements of the role.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.

- The ability to maintain accurate cleaning logs and other required records.

- A respectful, reliable and flexible approach to your work.

Applicable penalty rates and allowances will be paid in accordance with the relevant industrial instrument and employment arrangements.
