About the role

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook/Chef to join our Italian restaurant in Mount Barker, SA 5251 and also Elizabeth SA 5112. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking authentic Italian cuisine whilst maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation and safety. You will work collaboratively with our kitchen team to deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests, upholding the restaurant's reputation for culinary excellence .

Must be willing to work on a 7 days roster including split shift.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing and cooking a variety of Italian dishes according to established recipes and culinary standards

- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment and storage areas

- Adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures

- Managing food costs and minimising waste whilst maintaining quality standards

- Taking orders from the kitchen pass and ensuring meals are prepared promptly and to specification

- Plating and presenting dishes to the restaurant's standards





- Collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service during busy periods

- Assisting with menu development and suggesting new Italian dishes or improvements

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Cook or Chef, preferably with a specialisation in Italian cuisine

- Strong knowledge of traditional Italian cooking techniques and ingredients

- Food handling and safety certification or willingness to obtain one

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

- Excellent time management and organisational skills

- Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality presentation

- Physical fitness and stamina to work extended hours whilst standing

- Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team

- Communication skills and ability to take instruction from senior kitchen staff

- Flexibility with shift times, including evenings and weekends

- Experience working with fresh, seasonal ingredients is advantageous
