Vannella Cheese is a cheese factory based in Marrickville, Sydney. We take pride in producing quality cheese, and our packing floor is where that quality is protected and delivered to customers. We are looking for a hands-on leader to keep it running safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Position Purpose The Packing Supervisor leads the daily packing operation, ensuring product is packed, labelled and dispatched on time, to specification and in compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements. You will coach and manage a team of around 10, keep production flowing, and be the link between the packing floor and management.

Key ResponsibilitiesPeople and Team Leadership

- Supervise, roster and allocate tasks across the packing team of approximately 10 people each shift
- Run start-of-shift briefings covering daily targets, priorities and safety messages
- Train, coach and assess team members, including onboarding new starters
- Manage attendance, leave coverage and shift handovers
- Address performance and conduct issues promptly and fairly, in line with company policy and the Fair Work framework
- Foster a respectful, accountable and positive team culture

Production and Packing Operations
- Plan and run daily packing schedules to meet customer orders and delivery deadlines
- Monitor line output, yield, downtime and waste, and act to resolve bottlenecks
- Ensure correct product, weights,



labelling, date codes and packaging materials are used on every run
- Coordinate with production, warehouse and dispatch to ensure smooth product flow
- Oversee changeovers between products and packaging formats
- Keep accurate production records, reports and shift logs

Food Safety and Quality
- Enforce GMP, HACCP and company food safety standards at all times
- Ensure hygiene, allergen controls, cleaning and sanitation schedules are followed
- Carry out and record quality checks (seal integrity, labelling, weights, traceability)
- Identify and escalate non-conforming product and assist with investigations and corrective actions
- Support internal and external audits

Work Health and Safety
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure team compliance with WHS policies and procedures
- Ensure correct use of PPE, safe manual handling and safe operation of equipment
- Report and investigate incidents and near misses, and follow through on corrective actions
- Contribute to risk assessments and secure work procedures

Equipment and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure packing equipment is operated correctly and report faults and maintenance needs promptly
- Maintain stock levels of packaging materials and consumables
- Identify and implement improvements to productivity,



waste reduction and workflow

Selection CriteriaEssential
- Previous experience supervising or leading a team in food manufacturing, packing or a similar fast-paced production environment
- Working knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP) and WHS requirements
- Strong leadership, communication and people management skills
- Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and make sound decisions under pressure
- Good numeracy and record-keeping skills; comfortable with basic reporting and systems
- Ability to work the rostered shift (Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 4:00pm) and to stand, lift and work in a cool production environment
- Right to work in Australia

Desirable
- Experience in dairy, cheese or chilled food manufacturing
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management, or Food Processing
- Current food safety supervisor or HACCP training
- Forklift licence (LF)
- Experience with production planning, ERP or WMS systems
- Experience working with a multicultural, diverse workforce

Remuneration and Conditions
- Salary: 85K per year plus Super
