Overstory

Australia

Some people love walking into an established finance function where everything already has its place. Others see the opportunity to build something better. If you're in the second group, this may be the opportunity for you.

Overstory is growing rapidly, and we're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance operations, develop our team and bring the structure, systems and processes needed to support the next chapter of our business.

This is an chance to make your mark within a diverse wine, hospitality, and agricultural group, where the finance function plays an important role in how we grow.

This is a permanent, full-time role, and is open to candidates living in the Margaret River or Perth Metropolitan regions (hybrid from Subiaco).

Ideally, we'd love to have someone on board before Christmas, but we're equally happy to welcome the right person in the new year if a January 2027 start works better for you.

What’s In It For You

There's a lot happening at Overstory, and it's an exciting time to be part of it. With a growing collection of businesses across wine, hospitality, and agriculture, Overstory offers the opportunity to be part of something a little different from your typical corporate environment.

Be part of a growing group of distinctive wine and hospitality brands across Western Australia and Tasmania.

Join a business that genuinely values sustainability, quality and creating memorable experiences.

Work alongside passionate people who care about the products, places and experiences they create.

Experience the variety of working within a business that spans vineyards, wineries, restaurants, and more.

Join Overstory at an exciting stage of growth,

with new venues, evolving operations and plenty happening across the group.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will lead Overstory's core finance operations and a small team consisting of an Accountant and an Accounts & Payroll Officer.

With recent business growth and new venues opening, we're at a stage where our finance processes, controls and reporting need to develop alongside our operations.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing structure to a growing organisation, taking ownership and making improvements that will support the business well into the future. You'll have the autonomy to lead your team, identify priorities and implement improvements, with the expectation that you'll take ownership and follow through.

The Finance Manager has 3 key responsibilities:

Oversee the day to day finance operations

Oversee month-end and year-end reporting, reconciliations and financial accounting across the group

Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight and cash flow forecasting

Coordinate annual budgets, rolling forecasts and financial reporting to support business planning

Oversee tax compliance, inventory accounting, fixed assets and insurance requirements

Work with business leaders to explain financial performance and support informed decisions

Lead and develop the finance team

Provide clear direction, support and guidance to the Accountant and Accounts & Payroll Officer

Build a capable, accountable team with clear responsibilities and priorities

Coach and develop team members, encouraging independence and continuous improvement

Foster positive working relationships between the finance team and the wider business

Bring structure to the business to support long term financial success

Develop and implement financial policies, procedures and internal controls to strengthen governance and reduce risk

Improve financial systems, reporting processes and automation to increase accuracy and efficiency

About You

You're an experienced finance professional who knows how to balance the detail of day-to-day operations with the bigger picture.

You're a confident, approachable leader who takes ownership, makes informed decisions and knows how to get the best out of your team. You don't need someone checking in on every task - you're comfortable setting priorities, identifying what needs attention and following through.

You also understand that joining a business experiencing rapid growth means not every process will be perfectly documented or established from day one. Rather than finding that frustrating, you see the opportunity to bring structure, improve how things work and build something that will support the business into the future.

You'll be comfortable working with people across different business areas, building trusted relationships and communicating financial info
