Financial Controller | Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO)

Melbourne | Hybrid | Leadership Role reporting to CFO

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal leadership role across financial control, governance, compliance, operational finance, payroll, treasury and corporate services. The successful candidate will be both strategic and hands-on, partnering with executives and the Board while remaining close to the detail that drives financial integrity and organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead financial accounting, payroll operations, treasury, tax, audit, insurance and statutory reporting functions.
- Drive a robust financial control and governance framework across the organisation.
- Partner with the CFO, Executive Team and Board Committees on financial stewardship and strategic decision-making.
- Lead and develop a team of eight through three direct reports.
- Champion continuous improvement across systems, controls, automation and finance processes,



including TechnologyOne optimisation and responsible adoption of AI within finance operations.
- Oversee facilities, property and administration functions as part of a broader corporate services remit.

About You

You are a technically strong Financial Controller or Finance Manager who thrives in complex and purpose-driven environments. You combine strong governance and reporting capability with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders and drive change.

You'll bring

- CPA or CA qualification.
- Significant experience across financial control, statutory reporting and finance operations.
- Experience leading and developing finance teams through periods of growth and transformation.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, financial reporting and compliance obligations.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to modernise systems, processes and reporting.

Experience within community services, health, not-for-profit, government-funded or human services environments will be highly regarded.
