Fitter (General)

At DMG SOLAR TECH PTY LTD, we are looking for a full time (at least 38 hours per week) skilled Fitter (General) to perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, site layouts and manufacturer specifications to determine materials, fixing methods and assembly sequences for solar panel mounting structures and battery enclosure installations;
- Fabricating, cutting, drilling and modifying metal components, including brackets, rails, frames and support structures, using workshop machinery and hand tools to suit site-specific installation requirements;
- Fitting, assembling and installing mechanical mounting systems, racking, ground-mount frames and structural fixings for residential and commercial solar arrays, ensuring alignment, load distribution and compliance with manufacturer and engineering standards;
- Measuring and verifying dimensional accuracy, levels and tolerances of installed structures and fabricated parts using precision measuring instruments;
- Installing and securing battery cabinets, inverter mounting frames and associated mechanical hardware, then coordinating with licensed electricians for the electrical connection and commissioning stages;
- Inspecting, dismantling,



repairing and refitting damaged or worn mounting systems and structural components during system repairs, upgrades and expansions;
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing the company’s workshop machinery, lifting and access equipment, and service vehicle fit-outs to minimise downtime and keep installation crews working without interruption;
- Diagnosing mechanical faults in installed structures and equipment, identifying root causes and carrying out effective repair solutions;
- Carrying out all work in line with WHS requirements, including working-at-heights procedures, correct use of PPE and fall-protection equipment, and adherence to company protected work method statements.

Requirements

- Relevant Qualification or 3 years of experience in lieu of the qualification.
- At least 1 year of experience in the relevant role.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Confident manner.
- Positive approach to change.

Position: Full Time (at least 38 hours per week)

Salary: $79,000 – 90,000 per year
