Freshwater Christian College is seeking a Grounds & Maintenance Supervisor to join our team on a full-time basis. The start date is negotiable.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the College’s grounds and maintenance function to ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role combines team leadership and maintenance planning with hands-on trade work, ensuring the College’s buildings, grounds, and facilities are kept to a high standard of safety, functionality, and presentation.

Essential Criteria

1. Hold (or have the ability to obtain prior to commencement) a current Queensland Working with Children Positive Notice (Blue Card).
2. Fully aligned with the values, virtues, and Christian beliefs of Freshwater Christian College
3. Able to affirm the College’s Statement of Faith
4. Trade qualification (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical, horticulture, or similar) with current relevant licence(s)
5. Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
6. Strong hands-on trade/maintenance skills and willingness to work alongside the team
7. Sound understanding of WHS requirements in a maintenance/grounds context
8. Current Queensland driver’s licence
9. Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
10.



Good communication skills, able to liaise professionally with staff, contractors, and school leadership
11. Ability to manage stock, inventory, and ordering processes
12. Positive interpersonal skills; able to work positively with students, staff, and suppliers
13. Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage time effectively
14. Able to comply with College policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and training requirements (WHS, risk management, child protection, confidentiality)
15. Possess the right to work in Australia without needing sponsorship.

Highly Regarded

1. Experience working in a school or similarly complex facility environment
2. Horticulture or turf management experience
3. Experience with small plant/equipment operation and maintenance (mowers, ride-ons, etc.)
4. First Aid certification
5. White Card (construction induction)
