The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation

Chermside

Great food starts with a great team behind the scenes.

Are you someone who enjoys keeping busy, takes pride in doing a job well and likes being part of a team?

Perhaps you've worked in a kitchen before, or you're looking for an opportunity to get started in hospitality.

If you're reliable, hardworking and happy to roll up your sleeves, we'd love to hear from you.

The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, through its social enterprise Café for The Common Good, is looking for a casual Kitchen Porter to join our Back-of-House team at The Prince Charles Hospital in Chermside.

About the role

Our kitchen team works hard to deliver excellent food and service to hospital staff, patients and visitors every day.

As a Kitchen Porter, you'll play an important role in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. From maintaining clean and organised work areas to helping our chefs during busy service periods, you'll be a valued part of the team.

This is a hands-on role where no two shifts are necessarily the same.

What could your day look like?

You could be operating our commercial dishwasher, washing pots and utensils, keeping kitchen benches and equipment clean, or helping the chefs with basic food preparation.

You might also be unpacking deliveries, replenishing supplies, organising storage areas or helping the team get ready for a busy lunch service.

Whatever the day brings, you'll be helping maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen so the wider team can focus on delivering great food.

You'll be great in this role if you…

- Are reliable,

punctual and take pride in your work.

- Enjoy being busy and working as part of a team.

- Have a positive attitude and are willing to learn.

- Can follow instructions and work independently when needed.

- Pay attention to detail, particularly when it comes to cleanliness and hygiene.

- Are comfortable with the physical demands of kitchen work, including standing for extended periods and repetitive tasks.

- Understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Previous kitchen or hospitality experience would be outstanding, but it's not essential. We're just as interested in finding someone with the right attitude and a strong work ethic.

Why join us?

At Café for The Common Good, we're more than just a café.

Every coffee purchased and every meal served helps fund life-changing research, essential equipment and patient-care programs through The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation.

With five café sites across three locations, a growing catering business and a team of more than 80 employees, we're proud to offer a workplace where hospitality and purpose come together.

You'll also enjoy

- A supportive and inclusive team environment.

- The opportunity to develop your hospitality skills.

- Discounted food and coffee.

- The chance to contribute to something meaningful through the work you do every day.

Ready to join us?

If you're reliable, enjoy being part of a busy team and take pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you.
