We are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in data engineering, cloud platforms, SQL and Python. The ideal candidate will lead data engineering strategy, mentor engineers and drive the design and delivery of scalable, high-performing data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

- Act as a technical leader, mentoring and inspiring engineers across the business.
- Lead data engineering strategy and implementation in partnership with the Head of Data Engineering.
- Design and implement high-performing data engineering platforms.
- Lead hands-on data ingestion and transformation pipelines, reusable data products and single source of truth solutions.
- Contribute to data product roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish data engineering best practices and team-wide ways of working.
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, infrastructure and business teams to deliver data solutions.
- Support BAU data platforms, ensuring security, availability, reliability and maintainability.
- Work closely with Governance & Risk teams to manage data product risks.
- Contribute to the overall Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence strategy.

Key Skills & Experience:

- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics or equivalent experience.




- 7 years of hands-on Data Engineering experience.
- Advanced SQL and Python skills.
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT, Data Lakes, Data Warehousing, Dimensional Modelling, Star Schema, CDC and orchestration.
- Understanding of PII protection and data governance.
- Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Good to have: dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, Fivetran or Airbyte.
- Good to have: DevOps, MLOps, CI/CD, Git, Java and Terraform.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
