We’re looking for someone experienced in Mechanical and Structural Design to join our growing team and help deliver high quality engineering design solutions across a diverse range of projects.

You'll work closely with HDE's RPEQ Engineers, Project Managers, and fellow Designers to develop practical engineering solutions, produce detailed 3D models and deliver accurate engineering drawings. HDE’s drafting team will produce fabrication and installation drawings from your designs for you to review and approve.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of design deliverables, apply your technical expertise and play an important role in delivering projects across Queensland.

What You’ll Do:

You'll be responsible for developing and delivering mechanical and structural design solutions across a range of industrial environments.

Key responsibilities include:

- Undertake site inspections, measurements and existing-condition assessments to support design development, including utilising 3D laser scanning data.

- Work closely with HDE’s RPEQ Engineers to develop and refine practical design solutions, ensuring designs meet project requirements and relevant Australian Standards.

- Identify and resolve design clashes, fabrication constraints, access requirements and installation challenges.

- Review, mark up and approve fabrication, construction and installation drawings.

About You

You are proficient in 3D modelling and drafting. You understand how things are manufactured and fabricated, and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality design documentation.

You're a practical, technically capable Design Engineer who enjoys developing engineering solutions and seeing your designs progress from concepts through to completed projects.

You communicate well, work collaboratively and are comfortable taking ownership of your design work within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

What You’ll Bring:

- 5+ years' relevant mechanical and/or structural design experience.

- Experience across Power Generation, Manufacturing, Mining or Heavy Industrial environments.

- Proficient in either Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Advance Steel or similar.

- Solid understanding of Australian Standards, manufacturing, mechanical equipment and site installation requirements.

- A practical approach to problem-solving and the ability to develop workable design solutions.

- A willingness to visit operational work sites.
