Introduction
It takes courage to walk alongside someone as they shape the life they want.
Recovery is personal. It looks different for everyone.
At Richmind WA, we listen deeply, see people as individuals and support them to discover the courage they have to shape their own lives. We’re looking for a Mental Health Recovery Practitioner to join our Ngulla Mia residential team and bring that philosophy to life every day.
If you believe in hope, choice, dignity and the possibility of recovery, this is a role where your skills, curiosity and humanity can make a meaningful difference.
Description
Why this role matters
Ngulla Mia is one of Richmind WA’s residential mental health services in Perth, providing a supportive environment where people experiencing mental distress can focus on recovery, build confidence and work towards the life they want to lead.
As a Mental Health Recovery Practitioner, you’ll work alongside residents rather than directing their recovery. You’ll build trusting relationships, help people identify and work towards their own goals, facilitate individual and group recovery work, and collaborate with the people each resident chooses to have involved in their support.
This is not a standard Monday to Friday role. It is a full-time position that includes one weekend in every four and one late night each week, giving you the prospect to be present and connected across the rhythms of residential life.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and reviewing individual recovery plans in partnership with residents
- Facilitating recovery-focused one-on-one support sessions
- Delivering group programs and psychoeducational activities
- Supporting residents to identify strengths, goals and practical strategies for recovery
- Collaborating with families, carers and key stakeholders where appropriate
- Completing documentation and maintaining accurate records
- Promoting recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred practice
- Contributing to a positive team culture and continuous service improvement
Skills and Experiences: About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, Community Services, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or a related field
- Experience supporting people experiencing mental distress
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented practice and trauma-informed care
- Strong communication, relationship building and facilitation skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- A genuine commitment to person-centred support and social inclusion
- Strong documentation and computer skills
Desirable
- Experience working in residential mental health services
- Experience facilitating therapeutic groups
