Join MAM in a permanent, Monday–Friday role earning $80,000–$88,000 + super, producing custom steel components in our Preston workshop.

We're looking for an experienced MIG Welder / Metal Fabricator who can independently interpret technical drawings and confidently measure, cut, fit, weld and assemble steel components.

You'll fabricate handrails, banister rails, brackets, frames and other components used to make homes safer and more accessible across Melbourne.

What You'll Do

- Perform high-quality MIG welding, including galvanised pipe.

- Interpret fabrication drawings, specifications and welding symbols.

- Independently measure, mark, cut, fit and assemble steel components.

- Fabricate handrails, banisters, brackets, frames and related custom steel products.

- Work with mild steel, stainless steel and other relevant materials.

- Use workshop equipment including saws, grinders, drills, jigs and clamps.

- Grind, finish and prepare components for painting, including spray painting as required.

- Check completed work for accuracy, alignment, weld quality and finish.

- Solve practical fabrication problems while following safety and quality requirements.

- Maintain a clean, safe workshop and complete required job records.

What We're Looking For

- Strong MIG welding skills and experience welding galvanised pipe.

- Proven steel fabrication experience.





- Ability to independently interpret fabrication drawings and complete measuring, cutting, fitting, welding and assembly.

- Strong practical problem-solving and attention to detail.

- Safe, reliable work practices and ability to work with limited supervision.

- Good communication, teamwork and workshop organisation.

- Availability for 6:00 AM starts at our Preston workshop.

- Current driver's licence.

Qualifications and Experience

You'll need one of the following:

- Relevant AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, Welding or equivalent, including relevant on-the-job training; or

- Relevant AQF Certificate IV; or

- At least three years of relevant welding/fabrication experience in place of formal qualifications.

Highly Regarded

- Handrail and banister fabrication.

- Structural or tubular pipe fabrication.

- Disability-access product fabrication.

- Location: Preston, Melbourne VIC

- Employment: Full time, permanent

- Roster: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM starts

- Salary: $80,000–$88,000 per annum + superannuation

- Commencement: Immediate start available for the right candidate
