Position: Motor Mechanic

Salary: $79,500 per annum plus 12% superannuation

Hours: 38 hours per week

About the Employer

Tempe Transport Services is a car hire business based in Tempe, in Sydney's inner west. We rent hybrid vehicles to Uber, rideshare and taxi drivers on affordable weekly terms, with unlimited kilometres and comprehensive insurance included.

Our drivers rely on their vehicles to earn a living, so keeping every car in the fleet safe, reliable and on the road is central to our business. Every vehicle is regularly serviced, inspected and repaired so our customers can get back to work with minimal downtime.

We are now looking for a skilled Motor Mechanic to join our team in Tempe, NSW. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys keeping a busy fleet in top condition.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Repair, maintain and test motor vehicles, including hybrid vehicles, and their engines and related mechanical components.
- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines, hybrid systems and parts, using computerised diagnostic equipment.
- Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts for wear and damage.




- Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble mechanical components, and refer to manufacturer service manuals as needed.
- Perform scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrication, brake and tyre checks, and tune-ups, to keep vehicles running smoothly and in line with manufacturer and emissions requirements.
- Reassemble engines and parts after repair.
- Test and adjust mechanical parts after repair to confirm proper performance.
- Inspect fleet vehicles between rentals and detail the work required to keep them roadworthy and ready for rideshare and taxi safety inspections.
- Keep accurate service and repair records for each vehicle in the fleet.
- May respond to vehicle breakdowns involving fleet vehicles.

Qualifications

- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent) with on-the-job experience.
- Current driver's licence.

Other Skills and Requirements

- Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role.
- Experience servicing and diagnosing hybrid vehicles is highly regarded.
- Self-starter with robust self-management and time-management skills.
- Strong team player, able to communicate clearly with colleagues, managers and customers.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Competency in all the duties listed above.
