SIL - House Coordinator (Supported Independent Living)

Fortnightly Monday to Sunday 24/7 roster

Combination of direct support shifts and dedicate House Coordinator time

About the Role

As a Supported Independent Living (SIL) House Coordinator at What Ability, you will play a key leadership role within a SIL home, combining hands-on disability support with day-to-day leadership and house coordination.

You will work regular rostered support shifts alongside participants and support workers, while also having dedicated time each week to maintain house standards and complete administrative work.

This role is about creating a safe, calm, predictable, and participant-first home environment. You will be a stabilising presence within the home, ensuring support workers understand what is expected, participants receive consistent support, and the house operate to a high standard.

At all times, your core responsibility is to uphold the safety, dignity, rights, and well-being of the people you support.

About the House

This Supported Independent Living (SIL) home supports one resident with complex support needs on a 2:1 staffing model, 24/7. Because the home is built around one person, the team is small and consistent.

As House Coordinator, you’ll be the home's frontline manager. You’ll lead the team on the ground, set the standard of support on every shift, and shape a stable, predictable workplace where the resident can thrive. You’ll report to a SIL Manager, who is accountable for thehouse's governance, including compliance, quality, and safeguarding, and who backs you up when complex situations arise.

The resident thrives on a rigid daily routine,

and consistency is key to their wellbeing and regulation. You’ll make sure the routine is followed closely across every shift and that the whole team delivers it the same way, every time, whilst maintaining the What Ability standard.

The resident lives with a health condition that needs close monitoring and a prompt, confident response, guided by their individual health management plans. Training will be provided.

The residentmay also display complex,high-intensity behaviours of concern. This home needs a coordinator who is steady, patient and resilient, stays calm under pressure, sees the person behind the behaviour, and can model that approach for the team.
