St John of God Hospital would provide full training to support a Patient Transport Driver. We are asking that the volunteer commits to each Friday.
Vehicle and phone are provided. Must be personable, compassionate and reliable. Volunteers are required to pick up patients from their homes, wait for them to receive chemotherapy, then drive them home. A lovely program that supports our oncology patients during a difficult time.
The number of patients requiring transport may vary from week to week. Some weeks there may be only one patient, while at other times there may be up to three.
A roster will be provided each week, outlining the patients requiring transport, their collection times, and addresses.
This rewarding role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients by providing a friendly face, practical support,
and a safe and comfortable journey to and from their treatment appointments.
The successful volunteer will
- Hold a current, valid Driver's Licence and have an excellent driving record.
- Be available to volunteer every Friday.
- Demonstrate robust communication skills and a caring, patient-focused approach.
- Be comfortable assisting patients and helping them feel supported throughout their journey.
