About The Company
NETFIRM is seeking a skilled developer to contribute to a significant digital project for a creative business located in Sydney’s central business district. The client brings together creative and technical teams to deliver digital experiences, and this engagement offers the opportunity to work alongside developers and UX designers in a collaborative environment. The project is scheduled for completion at the end of May, making clear communication, effective teamwork, and dependable delivery important throughout the contract.
About The Role
NETFIRM is looking for a mid-weight PHP Developer to join the project on a contract basis. The successful candidate will bring robust PHP and MySQL skills, with proven JSP experience being essential. You will contribute to the development and integration of project features, work with established technical approaches, and collaborate with colleagues to support a cohesive workflow from development through delivery.
This role will suit a self-starting developer who can take ownership of assigned work, raise ideas and considerations clearly, and help guide progress when needed. You will work with developers and UX designers, so an understanding of front-end development and an interest in aligning technical implementation with user experience are valuable. The engagement is focused on a defined project and requires someone who can adapt to changing priorities while maintaining attention to quality and timelines.
Qualifications
- Professional experience developing with PHP and MySQL, together with proven JSP experience.
- Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, AJAX, and Bootstrap.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC architecture, and Agile and Scrum practices.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with RESTful web services.
- Familiarity with Backbone and Angular, as well as front-end development principles.
- Exposure to Bower, Grunt,
and Yeoman or similar development tools.
- Experience with an enterprise content management system, such as Sitecore, AEM, SDL, or Interwoven, is preferred.
- Clear communication skills, the ability to articulate technical ideas, and confidence presenting to clients.
- A proactive approach, sound organization, and the ability to collaborate effectively with developers and UX designers.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and support project functionality using PHP, MySQL, and JSP.
- Contribute to front-end implementation using relevant web technologies and frameworks.
- Build and support integrations with third-party APIs and RESTful services.
- Apply object-oriented programming and MVC principles to produce maintainable code.
- Collaborate with developers and UX designers to coordinate workflows and support consistent implementation.
- Participate in Agile and Scrum activities, communicate progress, and raise risks or blockers promptly.
- Take initiative in managing assigned tasks and help lead work where appropriate.
- Contribute to client discussions and presentations by explaining technical ideas clearly.
- Support the project team in meeting delivery expectations for the scheduled completion at the end of May.
Benefits This contract offers the opportunity to contribute to a major project for a creative business in Sydney’s CBD. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and apply a broad range of back-end and front-end skills in a collaborative project environment. The engagement also provides scope to demonstrate initiative, contribute ideas, and take responsibility for meaningful development work through to the project’s planned completion.
Equal Opportunity
NETFIRM is committed to fair and respectful recruitment. Applicants will be considered on their relevant skills, experience, and ability to meet the requirements of the role.
