Competitive hourly pay • Fully maintained company vehicle • Monthly RDO A1 Fire & Safety has been looking after customers across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs since 1994. We’re looking for a qualified Portable Fire Service Technician who enjoys working independently, getting to know customers and taking pride in a job done well.
About the role
You’ll be out on the road visiting customer sites, with our local service team behind you. On a typical day, you’ll:
- Inspect, test and service fire extinguishers, hose reels and hydrants within the scope of your licences.
- Carry out minor repairs, replace defective equipment and install recent equipment as required.
- Record test results and defects in Uptick so the office can follow up on any work needed.
- Talk customers through what you’ve found and recommend practical next steps.
What you’ll bring
- A Certificate II in Fire Protection and current QBCC occupational licences relevant to the role.
- Hands-on fire industry experience inspecting, servicing and maintaining portable fire extinguishers and hose reels on customer sites.
- A current Queensland manual driver’s licence.
- A positive attitude, a strong work ethic and an eye for detail. You work safely and take pride in the standard of work you leave behind.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills. You’re just as comfortable explaining a defect to a customer as you are recording it in a service report.
- The ability to organise your run, meet deadlines and give each customer the time and attention their service requires.
Experience using Uptick and additional QBCC fire licences would be an advantage.
What we offer
- Competitive hourly pay, with approved overtime paid at overtime rates.
- A fully maintained company vehicle, mobile phone and uniform.
- Monthly rostered day off.
- Opportunities to build your skills and progress your career within A1 Fire & Safety and the wider FVS Group.
- A friendly local team that shares its knowledge and backs each other up on site and in the office.
