Behaviour Support Practitioner – Canberra (Lead the Launch of Our ACT Practice)

Affective Care | Canberra, ACT | Full Time

Be the first. Shape the service.

Affective Care is expanding into Canberra, and we’re looking for an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to lead the way. As our first BSP in the ACT, you’ll have the rare chance to build relationships, grow a caseload and shape how behaviour support is delivered in the region, without doing it alone. You’ll be backed by our established Allied Health team in Sydney through regular clinical supervision, peer support and shared resources.

If you want autonomy and real influence alongside the security of an experienced team, this is the role for you.

Who are we?

At Affective Care, our purpose is to work with people with disability, providers and the community to deliver supports and services with compassion. We’re looking for people who are committed to and passionate about improving the lives of people living with disability.

The role

You’ll take the lead in holistic assessment and intervention for participants with behaviours of concern. This includes assessing, designing, implementing and evaluating behaviour support plans in line with each participant’s NDIS plan, needs and goals. You’ll work closely with families, support workers and other providers across Canberra to make sure strategies work in everyday life.

What we offer

- A competitive salary package, with the details to be discussed with the successful candidate
- The opportunity to establish and lead our Canberra behaviour support presence

- Clinical supervision and ongoing support from our Sydney Allied Health team
- Flexible work arrangements [insert: home-based / Canberra office / hybrid details]
- Company car available if required

- Ongoing professional development

To be successful you will have:

- Experience writing assessments and reports to monitor participant progress

- Experience working with people with autism, intellectual disability and other complex presentations
- Experience delivering services to children, young people and adults
- Understanding and practical application of NDIS Practice Standards, Rules and relevant legislation

- The ability to train and support workers to implement behaviour support strategies
- Strong caseload management skills and the ability to work independently
- A commitment to continuing professional development

Qualifications and requirements:

- Assessed as suitable by the NDIS Commission as a Behaviour Support Practitioner, or the ability to obtain this against the PBS Capability Framework (Core level minimum)

- Experience with, or knowledge of, restrictive practice authorisation processes, with ACT experience highly regarded
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration, or the ability to obtain it
