Mahers Glassworks is seeking a skilled and dedicated Powder Coater to join our manufacturing team on a full-time basis in Swan Hill, Victoria. This is a hands-on production role that is essential to delivering high-quality finished products. As a Powder Coater, you will be responsible for applying protective and decorative powder coatings to metal and aluminum components, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in every application.
This position plays a vital role in our assembly and process work operations, directly contributing to the excellence of our manufacturing output.
Key responsibilities
- Preparing surfaces by cleaning, degreasing and pre-treating components to ensure optimal powder coating adhesion
- Operating powder coating equipment, including spray guns to achieve uniform and high-quality finishes
- Selecting and mixing appropriate powder coating materials in accordance with product specifications and technical requirements
- Monitoring and controlling application parameters such as spray pressure and coating thickness to maintain quality standards
- Loading and unloading components from curing ovens and production lines in a safe and efficient manner
- Conducting quality checks on coated products to identify defects and ensure compliance with customer specifications
- Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of powder coating equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Adhering to all health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials
- Collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in powder coating or similar surface coating applications in a manufacturing workplace
- Competency in operating powder coating equipment and spray application systems
- Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating material properties
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, work instructions and quality standards
- Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards consistently
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks including standing for extended periods and lifting moderate loads
- Reliability and punctuality with a commitment to following workplace safety procedures
- Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to production requirements
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in powder coating, surface coating or related trades are advantageous
