Ready to Lead Western Australia's Next Generation of Scaffolding Projects?
About ScafWest For more than 35 years ScafWest has delivered scaffolding and access solutions across Western Australia's mining, defence, infrastructure, industrial and construction sectors. We're established, stable, and we're ambitious. We have clear growth goals for the next decade, and we're looking for people who want to help us reach them.
The role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll lead the delivery of a portfolio of mining, shutdown, maintenance and industrial projects. You'll be based in our Landsdale office Monday to Friday with regular travel to site, including overnight stays when needed.
You'll oversee our Project Coordinators, Supervisors and Safety Officers across your portfolio. You'll be the main contact for your clients and you'll be accountable for safety, delivery and commercial results.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of your project portfolio: safety, schedule, cost, quality and client satisfaction
- Strengthen client relationships by understanding their needs, delivering value and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Lead, coach and develop Project Coordinators, Supervisors and site teams, and manage performance when required
- Get resourcing right: crews, skills mix, supervision, vehicles, equipment and accommodation
- Oversee shutdown and project planning and execution, including shutdown briefs and scaffold design requests
- Lead safety from the front with regular site visits, audits and VFLs, and make sure actions are closed out on time
- Lead incident reviews and corrective actions, and uphold our IMS and WHS management plans
- Own budgets, estimates, quotes, variations, material tracking, invoicing assistance and cost control
- Track and report on client KPIs and project performance, and run client review meetings
- Bring fresh thinking:
challenge how things are done and propose innovation in systems, tools and processes to bring efficiency and innovation to all parts of the projects.
- Build strong, long-term client relationships and spot opportunities to grow existing accounts
- Help win new work across the mining and resources sector as a key driver of ScafWest's growth
About you - You will bring:
- 10+ years in the scaffolding and access industry, including around 3–5 years or more in a Project Manager role or a senior operations role with full project accountability
- A strong background in mining, shutdown, maintenance or heavy industrial work
- Hands-on technical knowledge across various scaffold systems and complex structures such as loading bays, gantries, heavy-duty and suspended scaffolds, and the ability to read drawings and work with designers/engineers.
- Commercial confidence across estimating, budgets, contracts, variations and cost control
- A track record of leading supervisors and crews, and of building teams that perform
- Strong safety leadership and a solid understanding of WHS management systems
- Confidence with Microsoft 365 and digital systems, and an appetite for better technology
- A current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to regional sites
Highly regarded:
- An established network across WA mining operators and contractors
- High Risk Work Licence – Advanced Scaffolding, and rigging qualifications
- Experience working with various systems, such as digital scaffold management, scheduling or reporting tools
- Rope access experience
