Quantity Surveyor – Financier QS

Brisbane | Junior to Intermediate A prerequisite: You must be willing to join in on the office banter!

We're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Brisbane team.

You might already know your way around a Financier QS report, or you might be a junior QS who's still figuring out which corner of the construction industry you want to specialise in.

Either way, we'd love to hear from you.

We're PEP Solutions. A boutique building consultancy with offices in Brisbane and Sydney, working on commercial property and construction projects across Australia.

We're a small but mighty team. We take pride in our work, genuinely care about our clients, and believe a good workplace should involve more than staring at spreadsheets all day.

Although, fair warning, there will be plenty of spreadsheets.

So, what will you actually be doing?

You'll be working in our Financier QS team, helping banks and lending institutions understand where construction projects stand financially.

Depending on your experience, your day might involve:

- Preparing initial Financier QS assessments and progress claim reports.

- Visiting construction sites to see what's actually been built (and occasionally escaping the spreadsheets).

- Reviewing construction budgets, contracts, drawings and cost plans.

- Assessing variations, contingencies, cost-to-complete forecasts and project risks.

- Talking to builders, developers and financiers to get the information you need.

- Working with experienced consultants to solve problems and deliver reports that clients can actually understand.

- Keeping projects moving, meeting deadlines and making sure the numbers stack up.

If you're relatively new to the industry, we'll help you learn the ropes.

If you've already got some experience, we'll give you room to take ownership of projects and develop your client relationships.

What makes someone a good fit?

We're not looking for a superhero QS who knows everything.





We'd much rather find someone who's curious, takes pride in their work, asks questions and genuinely wants to improve.

A few things that would help:

- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or something similar.

- Anywhere from graduate level to around five years of relevant experience.

- Good Excel skills. You don't have to dream in formulas, but you should be comfortable with numbers.

- The ability to read construction drawings, understand budgets and make sense of project documentation.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Attention to detail. Those extra zeros can make quite a difference!

- The ability to organise yourself and follow through on commitments.

- A willingness to learn, contribute ideas and help your teammates.

Previous Financier QS experience would be fantastic, but it's not a dealbreaker.

And yes, being able to take a joke and occasionally dish one out is a bonus.
