Mackay Base Hospital is seeking Registered Nurses to join its Nurse Bank on a contract basis, starting as soon as possible through to 31 January 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to gain flexible, varied clinical experience across multiple departments within the Mackay Hospital and Health Service. With five vacancies available, successful candidates will rotate through medical, surgical, orthopaedic, acute assessment, emergency, mental health, and day surgery settings, working 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts on a rostered basis.

- Versatile contract work across diverse clinical settings including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, emergency, and mental health units

- Maximum 80 hours per fortnight with overtime available, plus an 8-hour break between shifts

- Five positions available, starting immediately through January 2027

Preferred Requirements





- Minimum two years of current clinical experience with demonstrated clinical skills

- Medical and/or surgical nursing experience required

- Ability to work rotating 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts across multiple departments

- Strong communication and adaptability to work in diverse clinical environments

- Knowledge of ieMR and previous experience with Australian, Queensland Health, or Mackay Health and Hospital Service systems is desirable

Preferred Qualifications

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification

- Current immunisations and compliance with Queensland Health screening requirements
