About the Role This is a full time Monday through Friday role based near Brisbane CBD for a 12-months’ contract with an EPC company. As the Senior Control Systems Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of automation and control system solutions across the full project lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through to implementation, testing, and commissioning. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong expertise in PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems, along with the ability to solve complex automation challenges, guide engineering teams, and collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary project stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant control system solutions that meet project objectives and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop and implement PLC, SCADA and HMI control systems.
- Develop control philosophies, functional descriptions, I/O lists, network architectures and technical documentation
- PLC and HMI/SCADA programming, configuration and testing
- Lead or support FAT, SAT and site commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot complex control, instrumentation, communications and automation issues
- Review engineering designs and provide technical guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
- Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, process, mechanical and project engineering disciplines.
- Engage with clients,



suppliers and contractors to deliver practical and reliable engineering solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards, project specifications and safety requirements.
- Support estimation, planning and delivery of control system work packages.

Requirements:

- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, Control Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5 years’ experience in industrial automation and control systems in Australia.
- Demonstrated PLC and SCADA/HMI engineering capability.
- Experience with industrial communications and networked control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and commissioning skills.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs;, control philosophies and functional specifications.
- Strong documentation and technical communication skills.
- Experience with platforms such as Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Emerson or ABB would be advantageous.
