About the role

Achilles Information India Private Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Database Architect to join our team on a contract basis. This is a strategic position based in Melbourne VIC 3000, where you will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and optimising our database infrastructure and solutions. As a Senior Database Architect, you will be responsible for shaping our data architecture strategy, ensuring scalability, security, and performance across our technology landscape.

This role is integral to supporting the business objectives of Achilles Information India Private Limited and will have a significant impact on our technical operations and strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

- Design and architect comprehensive database solutions that align with business requirements and technical standards

- Lead the planning and implementation of database infrastructure projects, including migration strategies and system upgrades

- Establish and maintain database design standards, best practices, and governance frameworks across the organisation

- Evaluate and recommend database technologies, tools, and platforms to optimise performance, cost-efficiency, and security

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators and developers

- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimisation of database systems to ensure reliability and efficiency

- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for critical database systems

- Collaborate with stakeholders, application teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure database solutions meet organisational needs

- Monitor security compliance and implement robust security protocols to protect sensitive data

- Document database architectures, configurations,



and procedures to maintain knowledge repositories

What we're looking for

- Minimum 10+ years of experience in database administration, design, and architecture within enterprise environments

- Advanced proficiency with major database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL

- Expertise in cloud database solutions, including Amazon RDS, Microsoft Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL

- Strong knowledge of database design principles, normalisation, and optimisation techniques

- Demonstrated experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies

- Proven ability to manage complex database migration projects and system implementations

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

- Strong understanding of security protocols, compliance requirements, and data protection regulations

- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

- Professional certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified Data Administrator, or equivalent are highly valued
