With offices in Melbourne and Perth, we employ a team of over 80 staff across both states delivering new buildings, refurbishments and conservation works over a range of sectors including commercial, education, sports & recreation, community and heritage ranging from $1-40million.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a key role within McCorkell Constructions to drive design-motivated outcomes across the full project life cycle. As an in-house Design Manager, you will combine your keen design eye with a practical resourcefulness. You will be excited by the shift of seeing project challenges through the builder’s lens and resolving design issues with your constructive solutions-driven attitude.

The role requires high-level stakeholder, consultant and internal team engagement. Working with all levels of people, this role necessitates strong written and verbal communication for clear action and outcomes.

Key responsibilities and duties to include:





· End-to-end project oversight and engagement, from initial design development and tendering, through to project delivery.

· Representing McCorkell as the first point of contact in relation to design, and design-impacted matters.

· Managing the design program, consultant team and design deliverables.

· Scoping of design services and engagement of consultants

· Ongoing interrogation and assessment of the risks, opportunities and interventions required for improving construction outcomes.

· Building strong relationships with consultant teams and managing the appointment of consultants.

· Directing stakeholder and consultant engagement, and managing the chain of communication with all parties, including internal team members.

· Ascertaining a project’s potential for value-managed solutions, without compromise of the design integrity.

· Being actively engaged across several projects at any one time.

ABOUT YOU

You are a highly motivated Design Manager or Senior Associate level Architect with great organisational skills. You have experience in leading and administering projects under a variety of contracts, from start to finish. With your holistic approach,



you can balance the complexity of large-scale projects and conflicting project priorities to support successful risk management actions.

With a keen eye for detail, and a recognition of critical path activities and deliverables, you are confident in leading and decision-making. A clear and concise communicator, you are motivated to support the project from the builder-side.

Additionally, evidence of the following skills and attributes are needed:

· Tertiary qualification in Architecture or related degree with the equivalent knowledge and skills.

· Demonstrated experience delivering institutional projects between $10-60million construction value (Education, Sports & Recreation, Adaptive Reuse, Aged Care, Community, Civic & Commercial).

· Proficiency in leading several projects at one time, across all project phases.

· Ability to assertively communicate and foster relationships, from the client to the contractors.

· BIM Coordination

· Expertise in problem-solving design and construction solutions.

· Computer literacy in Aconex, Microsoft Office, Aconex Field.
