DIRAQ We are seeking a motivated engineer or physicist to support simulation and modelling activities for next-generation semiconductor quantum devices and technologies. This role focuses on developing, executing and improving modelling workflows that help guide device, process and technology development. The successful candidate will work closely with material and integration engineers as well as experimental teams to translate engineering questions into simulation studies, analyse results, and communicate recommendations that influence design decisions.
Benefits Stunning central Sydney CBD office with great amenities. Paid time off to volunteer for causes you care about. Eligibility to participate in our employee equity program. Work alongside world experts in quantum computing and a visionary SLT. A dynamic, supportive, and fast-paced workplace with room to grow. Exposure to cutting-edge tech and the opportunity to shape how it reaches the world. Task &
responsibilities Develop and maintain simulation workflows for semiconductor devices and process technologies. Perform electrostatic, transport and physics-based modelling of nanoscale devices. Analyse design trade-offs, variability and sensitivity to process changes.
Extract engineering insights from simulation and experimental data. Compare simulation predictions against measurements and refine models accordingly. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support technology development and product roadmaps.
Qualification &
experience Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Foundational knowledge of semiconductor physics and devices, including concepts such as charge transport, electrostatics,
semiconductor process technologies and device operation.
Experience using at least one advanced simulation or modelling environment (e.g. TCAD, EM, Finite Element Models, Python, MATLAB or similar). Ability to develop scripts, automate workflows and analyse large datasets. Understanding of numerical methods and physical modelling principles. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated contribution to at least one substantial modelling or simulation project in industry, research or postgraduate study.
Experience validating models against experimental data. Exposure to semiconductor devices, microelectronics, materials, physics or related engineering disciplines.
About Company
Diraq is building quantum computers based on modified silicon transistors, the technology best suited to achieving utility scale, when value far outweighs cost. Diraq’s mission is to become the global leader in the development of utility-scale quantum computing with millions of qubits on one silicon chip. Diraq’s silicon technology is designed to be integrated into standard data centers.
It runs on a single quantum chip, packaged together with classical electronics that operate at cryogenic temperatures, connected to supporting electronics at room temperature.
